Geraldine's Qualifications and Experience
She trained at City University and qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 1987. Since qualifying she has held several high profile posts. These included a research / tutors post at City University where she also co-ordinated and ran groups at the City Dysphasic Group. She was also part of the team of therapists who ran the intensive stammering groups. "The sense of self shame and distress I felt at school as I struggled to make sense of the world and cope with learning was appalling. Everything was hard reading writing and understanding what was being said. My self esteem was poor and I hated school."
"My training in counselling and psychotherapy enable me to be more human and yet more robust in my therapeutic style."
"My own experience of learning and education was very distressing but my personal triumph over these difficulties has given me a unique insight into the struggle of many of my clients. This has undoubtedly made me a far better speech and language therapist."
Geraldine contributes academically and professionally via regular written contributions to professional publications, practitioner forums and books on a variety of topics as well as making presentations at Conferences. |
